    My opinion is give more time than the pathetic industry standard. I say this as an owner of a company. My theory is, keep your employees rested and health physically and mentally, and they will be more productive for you.

    Pipe fiiters union

    for 8 1/2 years. Only get one week vacation and no sick days. I can earn a second week of vacation if 24 hours of training/schooling are accumulated on my dime. You guys with four and five weeks with sickdays have one sweet deal.

    I get

    One week after a year of service. But after almost 2 years I have had two days off with pay. Both times I went to school and paid my own way. We get sick days, you call in sick, you stay home, you don't get paid.

    Six paid holidays - Christmas, New Years, Memorial day, 4th July, Labor day, Thanksgiving. You gotta be pullin in a lot of dough for the boss if he can leave you home with pay.

    Here the union guys get NO paid holidays or vacation. Holiday = day off w/o pay. Vacation is time you spend when yer' laid off.

    No doubt Glenn

    All the time off is a sweet deal. Especially since no Unions here get paid for anything if they arent working. No work, no pay. We're one of the lucky ones.

    over here

    I get 3 weeks off - paid.
    plus 1 day off per month - paid.

    in return;
    I work 1 saturday every 2 months.
    Do inventory count with no pay (takes 2 days)

    FAIR to say the least....

    cheers!
