About Pumping Away

since my boiler near piping was changed to pumping away with the zone valves on the return.

Gil must just smile up there now with so many more people doing it the right way. Thanks Dan for sharing your stories.

It used to be that when ever one of my zones started up, there would be that familiar sound of air coming up the pipes and through the baseboard. Well, no more. The only place that air comes out of solution is in the boiler and then up to the compression tank. The system purged itself very nicely and it is quite silent these days.

I just wanted to thank all here who have educated and helped me, and a big thanks to Dan for providing this great place.

Yes, pumping away made a big difference to us too; probably gave us more benefit than the Munchkin we had put in at the same time! Between that and new three-speed Grundfos pumps, which it turns out will heat the zones fine at much lower pumping rates than our old pumps, we never hear the system gurgling now.

I agree 100%. Pumping Away worked a small miracle at our place. But, some mornings I sorta miss that little express train of air and water rushing and gurgling into my cast iron baseboards, telling me that the heat I just asked to be sent to the bedroom was arriving . Not so watching television in the family room at night.
