Taco Check Valve Location

Taco 220 series check valves state that they should be in stalled a minimum of 12" above the circulator. I have seen many pictures on the "Wall" of boilers that have been installed with the check valve directly above the circulator. Which location is better and why?

Sorry for the double post. Trying for twice as many answers.

could cause noise if too close to the circ. I would follow the instructions....0 -
Yep , like Mellow advised
always try to follow the instructions of the manufacturer . That being said , we always install the flow valve above the circ with a short nipple . Hardly ever had a problem installing it this way . Maybe a handful of ghost flow or chattering noise problems , but that's out of tens of thousands of Taco flowvalves installed .0 -
Ron Jr. is Roy G. still at Meenan?
