Convert hot water radiator system to steam?

I need to add a radiator to the hot water radiator heating system in my 1909 house (gas-fired boiler, closed system with circulator pump). Some contractors have suggested that the existing boiler may not be large enough to handle an additional radiator, and may need to be replaced soon in any event.
As part of the project, therefore, I am considering converting to a steam system (primarily so that I can gain the humidification benefits of releasing some steam from the valves on each radiator). The existing radiators have valves at the top (covered by many layers of paint) so I suspect that this may have been a steam system at one time.
Anyone have any thoughts on whether it is wise or reasonable to convert this system to steam? From other threads, I gather that the conversion is possible -- true?
Also, whether I convert or not, I will need a heating contractor in Arlington, VA, to add the additional radiator and perhaps replace the boiler. Any recommedations for a knowledgeable contractor?
Many thanks.

I've actually seen such a conversion
but it doesn't sound neccesary in your case. I think you can probably add a radiator to the existing hot-water setup.
Try Dan Foley at Foley Mechanical. He's in your area and really knows his stuff. I haven't memorized his phone number but you can find it on the Find a Professional page of this site- just type in your zipcode and follow the instructions.
