Two Viessmann job Photo's (s milne)

ScottMP Member Posts: 5,883
I know I DO !

I love the fact that I can design jobs like this.

I love the fact I have customers who understand what we are telling them.

I love the fact that I have a team like Darrel and Steve that can install such nice work.

I love the fact that Chris A. underestands so well how to set up these burners

I love the fact that I have friends on the wall who raise the bar And appreciate what we do.

I hope you like these photos. This is a Great customer who I told had a out of date boiler that was costing him money and he listened. He wanted natural gas but its not in his area. He wanted L.P., anything but oil. I told him lets do oil and then switch to natural gas when it comes down the street. He did'nt listen.

So we have these two Viessmann Vitolas 200's with Reillo VB2-50 L.P. power burners. The boilers have Victronic 100 KK 10 controls and are staged with a Tekmar 262.

The domestic tank is a Viessmann Vitocell 300 120 gallon tank.

Thanks to HB for throwing down the gauntlet :).

Scott

PS: I also Love the ProPress !!

I just did my first replacement job on Friday and used my new Pro Press. It was a 2 zone system and what a breeze with this tool. You might have a no heat call soon (see picture #5) ha ha! EJW

    Where's that other dude?

Where is the guy that is hell bent on installing his own boiler? Maybe if he had a look at what a true professional does, he might understand why it is rather stupid to go it alone. Beautiful work Scott!

    Excellent Install!

I like Vitolas myself... I presume the heat emitters used in this residence would not benefit from a Vitodens? I am also a bit curious re: using a 262 with the KK controller instead of having one Vitotronic lead/lag the second boiler. I'm probably missing something important here.

You guys must be very busy, allegedly my cousin has yet to hear from you. Perhaps he's too far away?
  • Just by reading the post

we can understand what passion you have for the work your company does . And then when you click on the pic - we see a jaw dropping install . Truly amazing , and disheartnening to the guys like me who want to have their own work look that good .

It's a real battle here between Milne and Heatboy . I'd be proud of either companys work in my home ( yeah , like I could afford em ! JK ) .

    Question??

Scott, are you staging the boilers with the Viessmann lead-lag controller?

we are using the Tekmar to stage them.

We use the Tekmar in so many applications that we are trying to stick with one product and get to know THAT one well. Logomatic, Vitotronic, Tekmar ... it gets confusing who does what and how.

The Tekmar will rotate the boilers and also gives us a Characteristic heating curve instead of the linial on that the Viessmann control gives us.

    Thanks Paul

There's not enough space to thank everyone who's helped us along the way.

Just so you know, your work is in our mind on every job. We try and do the work just as neat as you would, we just have a few more zones.

As I've said before, the wall has influenced my work in so many ways. I would'nt/could'nt have done this type of work tens years ago.

    Nice job Scott

Your crew is most gifted. It's nice of them to drag you along. (doh! just kidding) I too will download the pics to show my Tuesday night hydronics class. They are forced air techies whose jaws drop when they see whats being done in other places. The DC area has Dan Foley but he can't do it all and the other companys are forced air and not interested in adding to what they know. Also I know what you mean about controls. My head hurts trying to keep up.

Very sweet. A fine example of meticulous craftsmanship combined with modern technology. Milne P&H should be very proud. How much time do you think was saved with the pro press?

yummm, love propress - got to make it code in nyc...

a soldered manifold that long will never be as straight, cause of heat bending - no matter how well you have it jig-ed

i also like the split-ring standoffs better then struts

    -- less clutter

-- less parts to stock, cause you can make hangers and stands out of the clamps and feet

--less sound transfer to the backboard - especially if you use aloop of rubber tape

    - easier to cut insulation around

    - easier to mount heavy stuff on, as you can leave one half of the split ring open loosely, then hold item with one hand and close and start screw with the other - the only thing better would be if they made feet, with racheting and threaded grip holes for push in mounting and quick releasing

    Team Milne

Excellent........(said in Mr.Burns voice)exxxxxccccccellent!I like both installs. The propress certainly is paying for itself.

A question/critisism.....with the Buderus manifold fitting.I have noticed on your picture posts that the relief valve is always horizontal.Me thinks you want to use the 3/4"ST ell pointing vertical and always put the pressure relief valve vertical. This helps to prevent sediments from clogging the path of blow off!

    Cheese,

Not to discount your theory but there is a st. 90°/ ell coming off the manifold fitting. I think (just theory) that if something is settling in the valve in the horizontal position and stops it from seating after a blow off, it IS a GOOD thing. It tells me that some part of the system is making "goo", and I should find out why quickly.

If the seat on the relief sits vertically and there is "goo" (there's that word again!) under the rubber seat, it will still leak, but now I have to remove the drop tube to spin it out.Usually there is a 90 attached so it falls to the floor. In my case, it's a straight shot.

I'm not discounting your thought. As a matter of fact, an insurance inspector made me change one from horizontal to vertical in a church last year. Seeing that it was attached to a 3" steel nipple and a 90,(both sitting with the goo(damn, there it is again) in them in either position, what difference did it make? Up or sideways it will still stop the seat from seating if it blows off. The key is to finding out WHY it blew off!(if ya gotta ask, ya need a professional!)

Thanks for the kind words. BTW Jets? What's with that? I guess we'll see soon buddy! Chris

    Chris

I am not concerned in the slightest about the "goo" :) not allowing a PRV from seating.I could not agree more with your point of finding why. What I am suggesting is that the "goo"(theres that word again)can/may PREVENT the PRV from blasting off.

I did reckognize that you installed the ST ell on the manifold fitting.BUT what I tired to convey is that is in the horizontal position.I believe it is tha manufacturers intent that the ell is turned so the outlet faces up.Then the PRV is screwed into it in the vertical position. Then you may continue with dog leggn' it to the floor.

Again............I loove the Milne dudes and all there work.....I am solid with it.Just my way I install the PRV's is always vertical.

    Cheese and the mighty GOO

I guess I've been installing and maintaining this stuff for too long, I never thought about the buildup of "goo"(Dagnabit there it is again) getting to that point. Maybe I should think like an "unthought of gas boiler, doing it's job till it doesn't", a bit more often? Luckily, we have great customers and our team reminds them that maintenance is cheaper than failure. I bet I'm one of the luckier ones!

Thanks for the food for thought. Chris.

Jets? I guess i'm missing something there too! (OOOOH!)

    Chris............

I was reading the book.Cut and paste and go to page 11......read it.There is no mention (dare I say the word)of GOO (its infectious)but there is a part on vertical.BTW did I mention the...J-E-T-S!!!!!
