Any advice on tying in hydronic baseboard heat(For supplemental heat in basement), into water heater with auxillary water taps in the side? Are these normally heat exchange coils in the water heater or common to tank water? Thermostat in this residential water heater only goes to around 120 degrees. Thanks in advance for advice!

baseboard on water heater
It depends on the make of the tank...in most code jusrisdictions, it is illegal to cross connect domestic hot water and heating water. Make sure those "auxilliary connection are a coil, or you'll need to use a heat exchanger for you heating loop.

Heating appliances run longer than water heaters
Because of this reason, there are safeties on heating appliances that try to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning to the people in the heated building.
Water heaters only run a few minutes at a time, so these safeties aren't required.
Another reason to not mess with water heater piping...
From ABC news, NYC
They've shut-off the water at The Colony apartments and have ordered more tests.
Eyewitness News reporter Jeff Pegues is in Fort Lee with the story.
On one hand, residents of this apartment complex are being told not to be alarmed. But on the other hand, health officials confirmed on Sunday that there are some signs of Legionella bacteria in the water system.
Add to that the two confirmed cases of Legionnaire's Disease, and you can understand why this is being called a medical emergency.
Jack Alter, Fort Lee Mayor: "And we're all doing what we're told, that's basically the bottom line. How we handle the building, and they even told us that the town should supply water, bottled water, for the building."
The bottled water will be coming in because all water in the apartment building has been shut down as the hot water system is tested.
Janet Clooney, President of Colony Board: "We are working with the borough also, and with other agencies to see if we can provide showers. The residents have the option of staying here, or going to family and friends."
This medical emergency has lead to a lot of concern for the co-op's residents. One woman showed up today worried about her parents.
Penny Paer, Residents' Daughter: "I'm upset that it should have to take the news -- you guys, who as far as I'm concerned are terrific -- to acknowledge the fact that as of June someone was sick."
The first case appeared here in early June, and then there was another incident last week. Both victims were in their 70s, and though the disease can be fatal, both patients are recovering. Health officials say they are confident there isn't a wide-spread problem in Fort Lee.
Stephen Wielkocz, Fort Lee Health Officer: "This has nothing to do with Fort Lee, it's just this one building."
The condition has flu-like symptoms of; fever, chills, coughing, muscle aches, headaches, tiredness, fatigue, loss of appetite.
Penny Paer is now planning on moving her parents out of the building.
Penny Paer: "They've had flu-like symptoms, both of them."
The cleanup work continues, we're told the water system will be sanitized. And some of the test results should be in by Monday.

Pretty limited bb output
with only 110- 120° water temperatures. And the other issues mentioned such as cross connection with DHW, and the tank may not be listed for combo installs, as such no code compliant.
A small boiler would be a better match.

RE: Legionaires outbreak in NJ
Great find Noel. I was alerted to that by Felcie who posted a link in the RPA's private BB for the Water Heater Action Group. He's also posted both links on the public BB.
Here's another link to compliment the one you've posted.
