Honestly, does it really matter if the water makeup, circulators

you want a virtualy silent, trouble free system. If you want to see your heating contractor once a year to bleed air at the beginning of the heating season, leave it as is.
As for the Amtrol pressure reducing fitting, I concur. I've never been able to get them to work correctly, however, there are numerous contractors here that swear by them (and some that swear AT them). Regardless, if you set the system up under ideal conditions, it will be trouble free and quiet in operation. Your contractor probably does it that way 'cause thats the way his grand pappy and pappy did it. When asked why they say "Cuz, that's the way we always done it."
Trust me, I used to do it the old way, and have since changed and have not had problem one associated with air entrainment or entrapment.
Will it work the other way? Obviously it will, and has. Does it work better the correct way? You betcha!!
Is there a right way to do things wrong?? Not to my knowledge, but then again, I'm just a young spirited buck with only 30 years of experience...
Hope this helps.

Honestly, does it really matter if the water makeup, circulators
Honestly, does it really matter if the water makeup, circulators are on the return side of the boiler in a residential system pumping towards the boiler and expansion tank? He says the manufacturers info says it doesn't matter, the circs are small and just circulate, and pump nothing, but I like the ideas, being an idealist and love the info in Dan's books, "prim sec pumping" and "radiant heat", etc.
But does it really matter?
I said the extrol tank info is the right way, when he saw that I had the makeup water above the exp tank and below the air scoop, he said that that was the worst thing they came up with was that fitting where you connect the makeup water with the exp tank, it isn't adjustable and thay are always causing problems. I've had to change out many of those. Of course they want it that way, they came up with that fitting.
What do I know?
But, does it really matter?0
