I would check with tech support on it. They are real good with any issue's you may have.

I started up a MZ-25c boiler last night. It is burning NG at 7000' I finished with the gas adjustments as per the manual, the flame looked great, CO at 40PPM with the cover on. All was well until I tried to put the alluminum cover over the gas valve adjustment. With the plug out of the valve it fires great, as the cap goes on the flame changes. The co ran up to over 5000PPM in a matter of seconds. I have never had this problem before and have seen lots of MZ's without this happening. It has been a great boiler. Could it be that there may be something external to the boiler that may be causing this.0
