Hi,
this is a 2 floor house with full basement and hot water baseboard heating. the water boiler is in the basement and although the radiators are hot on the 1st floor they are not on the top floor - what can be the reason for that? this is the first time the system was turned on since last winter...
thanks

a few questions
1. What does the pressure gauge read at the boiler?
2. Has this system been drained down for service since last season?
3. Are all the correct valves opened in the boiler room and at each convector?
4. Does this system have zone valves?
Try opening the vent on each convector-you should get water coming out. If you get air coming out, leave it open until you get water. If you open them and have no water and don't hear or feel air escaping, the make-up water feed could be valved off or not feeding. Once you see how to purge air out of a system, you'll see that it's (usually) not that big of a deal to do; there are wrong ways to do it, though. It might behoove you to contact a good service company to come out to do a clean and check and have the system purged if need be. Hope this helps!0
