Boiler piping

I'm trying to find out the answer to this question and as an aside to the system 2000 question I have up on the board. What I would like to know is why a boiler such as system 2000 uses a single tapping for the expansion tank, relief valve, and air vent? We were discussing piping cast iron boilers this way and found that due to a code(possibly ASME) it was not recomended. Why is this okay for some and not for others?

Convention
Hydrotherm was the only boiler I ever used when I started hydronics and they gave us a special fitting for the air vent/x-tank/relief valve combination off a single boiler tapping; Viessmann does the same thing, less the x-tank, adding the pressure gauge.
I think boiler tappings are expensive for the manufacturer and practically speaking, one tapping is easier for the installer.
Where in the ASME code are you looking?

Hi Alan
I did not have a copy of the ASME code. I was told that this was in the code. Do you know where I could look at this?0 -

ASME
Sorry, I don't although it shouldn't be an issue if the boiler manufacturer specifies it. Many times, code will reference the manufacturer's instructions.
