Just had new boiler installed. Have drain water 5-6 times

Just had new weil mclain sg04 installed. Still getting strong metalic smell in steam after about 2 weeks. have drained system every other day will this go away as it breaks in. Contractors used copper to connect boiler to main steam line. Is copper a problem in this high heat area?
What is your recommended solution. Oil fired with a new becket burner. Thanks for your help

    Was the oil skimmed?

It is my understanding that cast iron and steel boilers ought to be skimmed after their install to ensure that there is no oil layer left on top of the water inside the HX (this causes surging and perhaps also the smell you're experiencing).

Easy to fix for your installer. Just takes some time.

    Let's see

You might want to take pictures so the steam gurus can see the piping. Copper on the header doesn't sound like what the boys on here would do.

needs to be skimmed...and did you say copper??

is the copper pipe "k" thickness, refrigeration grade fittings, and did he silver braze it?

otherwise - i would not feel real comfortable about it not coming apart at the joints - however, if it was done rght, then it's good for 600psi and 400f - the boiler section seals will blow long before that
