Replacing Steam Shutoff Valves

I have a few steam radiator shutoff valves which need to be moved/replaced. How do I remove the nipple portion from the radiator end of the single-pipe system? I see the two tabs inside the nipple, but I cannot find a tool to lock against it allow me to remove the end.
Likewise, the new nipple has the same stops inside to install then end.
The outside of the nipple is smooth otherwise, I would use a normal pipe wrench. Is there a spanner wrench for this?
Thanks,
Dave
