I know they are made by the same company. My heating contractor has access to both. What would choose.

They are not just made by the same company, they are the same except for control electronics.
A Pinnacle with a Tekmar 263 (not any other model) outdoor reset controller is better than a Munchkin with Vision I outdoor reset, but probably slightly more expensive. Tekmar controllers are more intelligent and more flexible and more homeowner-friendly than the Munchkin's built-in Vision I reset.0 -
Let's Ask Mark Hunt!
Mark, what is better?0 -
I would pick
The one that the contractor has the most experience with.

does the munchkin have a H stamp yet. we have areas that will not accept it without. thanks, marc0 -
true but
This is generally excellent advice, but in this case, the two boilers are physically the same and so the piping and other physical requirements are the same. The electronics is different but there's not much to go wrong. I know HTP insists on training classes, and tries to keep its Vision documentation a secret from homeowners, but Tekmar puts all documentation on the web.
I have a Munchkin and I have the 'secret' Vision I documentation. I am not at all sure why homeowners are not supposed to know how to change the settings. The Tekmars seem slightly better designed to me, with more options (including nonlinear reset curves and some other features). Perhaps the best feature is a clearly written manual.
Hardware-wise, except for the plastic case with poorly-fitting front cover (the intake PVC pipe isn't really needed) and the control panel that hangs loosely from a ribbon cable if you want it outside the case, the Munchkin/Peerless seems like a fine boiler, and my Munchkin is certainly working well so far.0 -
if you order that way
we ship both.
Hope this helps,
