copper steam pipe

today i replaced an entirely rotted steam main in a finished basement(pipe was so level that it was almost back pitched ) because of so little space to work, and never seen the steam main rot out like this before, i decided to replace with copper from the new boiler all the way back , completely in copper.-tonight is the first time on this site and after reading a page about the expansion of copper, not realizing the expansion rate, i almost feel like crapping my pants and now hoping that i wont have a problem.i/we have done this at times when i worked with for someoneelse and never recall ever snapping a solder joint.DO I NEED TO REALLY WORRY?

please don't crucify, but like i said i did this under direction of a former employer and dont recall of ever having a problem. after reading your detailed info now you got me thinking
