There was a job talked about on the wall done by FLW. The problem was what to do with the leaking radiant pipes in the exposed concrete floor. There were lots of ideas tossed around, and never heard how the job turned out.
When I was walking around ISH, I came across these folks called Ace Duraflo who can blow an epoxy coat onto the inside of water pipes down to 1/2". Their main target is potable water, but they said it would work fine for copper in slab. The Cv of the resulting pipe is better than copper. It's not cheap to get them out to do this (they guessed 10-15k for a wild guess of a job in NJ) but it could be a real lifesaver in an historic building. I took a serious look at it, and it would probably outlast the building.
They got into this by doing the pipes in the Biltmore hotel in LA. The pipes couldn't meet the clean water codes, and the historic police wouldn't let them repipe...
