Thermostatic Bypass Valve

Wirenut,

The following diagram shows how to properly pipe a thermic valve within a system. The thermic valve can be piped on either the supply side or the return side. It is necessary to have a circulator prior to the tee off to ensure flow through the boiler.

    Thermostatic Bypass Valve

New Yorker FR147 boiler, want to install a thermostatic bypass valve in return line to protect boiler from thermal shock. I'm pumping away from the boiler (3 007's). Typical hookup shows pump on return line, what is the proper placement & piping of valve. Do I need check valves? I did not want to make this retrofit a primary secondary system unless I need to.

    same thing as posted above

make sure you use the right ports on the 3-way thermostatic valve. It seems that this should be possible without saying, but you'd be surprised. If it isn't installed the right way, it could mean lots of troubles and maybe even cause "bodily harm or DEATH!!". - Well, thats pushing it...

    Anyways, hope this helps.
