Steam Pipe

It's possible, especially with fin-tube radiation that doesn't have much internal space, to compress more steam into the radiation after the TRV has shut off.

I fixed a system with this problem by installing a Vaporstat that could not be set higher than 1 pound.

Also make sure that your mains are properly vented. Improper main venting can cause some radiators to get steam faster than others, which could fill some of your units with steam before the TRVs have time to react. Measure the length and diameter of your mains and we'll tell you what you need.

    Steam Vent

I have a 6 story building with one pipe system, parrallel flow, dry return with a condensate pump in the basement presently running 2PSIG cut out 0PSI cut in. I am cycling Peerless boiler from outside air control, time clock, and have added a cycle relay to cycle boiler off and on during the day. I have steel fin tube radiation.

Problem: have Dunfoss 1 pipe air vent valves with remote controller. In several areas they want shut off steam from entering baseboard. I have checked for any leaks at radiation shut off valves and have installed reverse check valves, per Dunfoss bulletin HT81-02 dated 12/1/80, ahead of steam vent in basement. I have done all I can see to allow system to breathe in air on off cycle. Have also checked a dimension at boiler.

    Any ideas?
