what do you do?

I am a oil burner tech and a friend of mine recently had another local company install a furnace for him. I asked him if they set it up right but he was unsure. I went over and there was not even a test hole in the vent pipe. I advised him that they should return to test the equiptment. Upon their arrival they used a infra red temp sensor to measure the stack temp. That was all no draft, no co2 or smoke test was preformed. He did do a tempurature rise with his infra red between the supply and return on the outside of the duct. My question is -he is not in danger, it is running ok and I can take care of setting up the burner properly or should I get more involved and MAKE HIM DO HIS JOB RIGHT ?

    I agree

With Mr. Sutton on this one. I would personally break out the kit and do the test. It take's 10 minute's to be able to sleep real good!! :)

I have already checked it, but why can't a LARGE hvac installation company do their job right . .08 draft , co2 of 8.3 and a stack of 623 with my electroic test kit.And yes I adjusted it. I will sleep he paid a premium price for poor instalation practices.

Your friend hired someone else so I hope you charged him double to fix it! Just kidding! Your friend needs to make some waves because maybe the company he hired has a incompetent tech setting burners up for them and the next person may not be as lucky to have a friend like you checking their system for them. What if it was a auto mechanic that did a poor brake job, should someone else fix it and let him go about his business doing the same to others. It's not like he left a pile of speedy dry on the floor, CO is no joke!
