I have and old gravity gas furnace that is having trouble staying lit. The flue appears to have draft, but CO2 is coming back out of the burner chamber. Does anyone have any good advice? Thanks a lot. Jeff

sounds like
You need a pro to visit to go through that unit now!! I would not run it until it has been cleaned and inspected and any issue's taken care of. IMHO..:)0 -
re: repy to gravity furnace
Hi, Ichmb. Thanks for your reply. I did have a guy look at it, but it is older than most furnaces seen. What we were wondering is does this sound like something could have a hole in it, or corroded out and collapsed, causing it not to have a draft? As I said earlier, we could see into the pipe where it comes out of furnace and see dust blowing so there appears to be draft in flue pipe. ??0 -
very possible
It sound's like it's very possible. The tech you had come in couldn't find this? If not or there is no one in the area who can find a way into it it's time to replace. I personally would pull the unit apart checking seam's and weld's for crack's. I would also check the chamber area to see if it collapsed. If it's that old I would bet you can find a hole and don't want to run it...Did you check the find a pro section to see if someone where in your area?0
