Radiant Boiler

I have a customer with a 15 year old (or so) Valiant Rapido gas boiler that is chimney vented serving only a radiant floor in a sunroom. The flue piping Y's into a gas furnace (yes furnace, scorched air) and a water heater.

The flue piping to the furnace and the water heater are fine, the flue to the radiant boiler is all rotted from condensation, it is so bad the need a new boiler.

What I don't want to happen is to replace the boiler with another chimney vented boiler and have the same condensation problem. The Radiant boiler's high limit is set to 180 degrees.

I thought about using a side wall vent appliance like a munckin' but It isn't practical for this house and would require an extensive relocation project.

Any info is greatly appreciated

  • No pictures, no heat loss this is a new customer on an existing house.

After the boiler there is a stadler supply and return manifold for the radiant ( typical).

    Condensing in flue

Nothing wrong with the common vent if it's sized right. Obviously this boiler was seeing some cool return, thus, flue temps. Provide for return temp protection with the boiler of your choice and it won't happen again.
