There should be no problem provided adequate insulation is added to the nipple.

One pipe steam radiator....
I am moving a steam radiator about 2.5 feet to the left of where it currently is. Can I run a black pipe nipple from the shut off valve to the rad ....obviously with the proper unions/connections.... without having any "Steam Problems"?0 -

In addition to piping the extension properly, make sure you don't get any oil or other contaminants into the system. A little bit of oil or dirt in the boiler will cause BIG problems.
