Missing rads

Was called to a house that has new owners they want to fire
up the heat to prevent freeze up they are not going to live there. It is a steam boiler 315000 BTU but for some reason the last owners have removed about 6 rads. We do not have alot of steam heat in our area but I love it I have Dans book and have read it just wandering from the boys that deal with it eveyday how is this boiler going to act with lack of EDR? Big house about half rads gone.

You might have some problems

with high steam velocity in the runouts, which can trap water and cause banging. If this turns out to be a problem, try down-firing the boiler but not more than about 20% or so. If you do this, make sure the stack temp is high enough to avoid condensation in the flue.

Do you know why the radiators were removed?

Why?

is a good question talked with one person that said the old owners were companing about high gas bills so he thought they took them out to lower his gas bill.BRILLIANT
