Anyone having problems with the threads on Pro-Press male adapters leaking?
I went to fire up a system today and had seven of eight one inch male adapters leak at the threads, they were teflon taped and doped before assembly.

Dave I don't know about PRO - PRESS

but if you try Mel Rose teflon tape (the pink type) you won't be disapionted but it costs a good bit more than the cheap stuff.

    ProPress Threads

Yup, I have seen the same problem. I posted about it a few months ago. I tend to use single strand wick and pipe dope. Had a few 1-1/4" female adapters leak on a boiler start-up and just this past week had a 1" male adpter leak on a pump flange. We have only used the ProPress since April or May but others in our shop have experienced the same thing.

    leaks on threaded connections

if lampwick is not used on all threaded joints for any system involving water and pressure , you will always have leaks. steel pipe will eventually rust up and seal but thats another story.

    in general...

use lots of teflon paste besides the tape - otherwise the tape tears when you screw it in and becodes inefective - or use lots of tape and spray it with liquid soap
