I have a Weil McLain 368st boiler it is used all year round. heat in winter ,hot water in summer.The boiler water is very dirty,is it wise to drain and flush the boiler.Thanks tom

As a mattern of course, I pump flush every steam boiler at the annual boiler maintenance. Fill/flush....fill/flush....fill/flush multiple times if necessary.(and usually its necessary). It really makes a huge difference over the lifespan of the unit. Flush and test low water cutoff too. Just dont forget to run the unit when finished re-filling to rid the water of any oxygen. Fresh water is loaded w/ oxygen which will eat the cast iron from the inside out unless it is heated to (I believe)180 degrees. I bring up steam to be safe. Its good practice.0
