Large House

Hello,
I have a large house, with a well tuned 1926-era two-pipe, vaccum vapor system. Typically we only use 2 or 3 out the house's 10 rooms.
Would it hurt the system or it performance if I turned down the radiator valves (or even turn them off) in rooms hardly ever used.
Woudl it save oil to make it worthwhile?
Thanks for your thoughts,
Steve
