"It actually made me feel really, really good," Martinez said. "I actually realized that I was somebody important because I caught the attention of 60,000 people ... plus the whole world. ... If you reverse time back 15 years ago, I was sitting under a mango tree without 50 cents to actually pay for a bus. And today, I was the center of attention of the whole city of New York. I thank God for that."

Not a bad additude from a lossing pitcher.

See you guys Friday night in the big green.

Scott

Hes sucking up to the boss

Being a free agent next year hes just priming the pump to be in pinstripes for 2005. He HAS to start sucking up now. Steinbummer will take him. He has hired "has beens" in the past. Pedro is a shadow of his former self. Its not looking good for your boys there Scott( I know, I know, its not over yet) Maybe The Babe's his daddy. Take off your Sox and put on some pinstripes already. Come down to the Bronx and taste what baseball is supposed to be like.

    Pedro a Yankee?

That may make me turn in my pinstripes.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

    hey tommyoil

that 'shadow of former self' won 16 games this season.
You're right though, he just may end up in pinstripes. How bout Nomar ending up as their 2nd baseman, how unreal would their infield be?

    I feel your pain !!!

That would be one unbelievable infield. As to the 16 wins against marshmallow teams, thats great. Regular season, as we all know, means diddly squat in October. When Sox get to N.Y. they got his number so, unlike Clemmons, Pedro (no class bum) couldnt come up big if his life depended on it. He gets frustrated and starts throwing bald seniors to the ground. I hope they saved his seat under that mango tree, because thats where he'll be watching the world series from. Its got to be frustrating to be a Boston fan. And believe me ,I know that frustration. I'm a lifelong Minnesota Viking fan so " I feel your pain".
