I'm starting with pex in slab 1 zone. If I decide to add suplimental heat source which requires water temp much greater than floor, what extra components do I need to do this? Can it still be one zone? Thanks

The general idea is that you produce the hottest water required by the system and mix down to produce the lower temperatures. Required components will vary with the boiler used.

No way that I know of to mix temperatures in the same "zone". The supplemental will require separate piping from the slab.

Your calculations should tell you if and where supplemental is required. If on the very edge? Remember that heat loss calculations and nearly everything else generally overstate loss a bit. Also remember that while you can't consider heat produced by occupancy in the loss that such does occur.

Thanks Mike. Most people i've spoken with who have done heat loss think I will need supplimental heat on very cold days. I'm just trying to figure out the best approch for my application(with cost in mind).
