new burnham boiler not working

I put in a burnham PIN4 steam boiler in August. Today the guy called me and said it's not working. I I have power to everything. Where the vent damper plugs in the blue wire connects to the red and the red wire connects to the blue. And the lights on the damper don't come on. Could this be the problem? It is and electronic ignition boiler

  • Sounds like

you may have a Honeywell vent damper on that one Bill if you have lights on the damper circuit board. If you are referring to the connections at the Molex plug connection to the damper cord, the wire colors are different from the damper cord to the boiler plug wires. They are shown in Figure #34 in the I&O manual and are as follows:

Boiler Orange to Damper Cord Black

Boiler Yellow to Damper Cord Yellow

Boiler Red to Damper Cord Blue

Boiler Blue to Damper Cord Red

If you are referring to the boiler damper plug harness connections in the boiler junction box, they should be Orange to Orange, Yellow to Yellow, Red to Red and Blue to Blue. Is the relay pulling in when the thermostat calls? Does the damper open when you put the Automatic - Manual Open switch to the manual position. If not, then it may simply be a bad damper. Feel free to call the Burnham Tech Service line at 1-800-722-0720 and have the Serial Number handy when you call. They will walk you through the test procedure. Hope this helps.

  • Well........

Since I'm in a hotel in West Springfield, MA tonight after an evening of training with a local mechanical firm and the playoff game is sooo lopsided, I decided that checking in here was a better option. I'll be out in your neck of the woods with one of our new distributors tomorrow evening and then it's down to Atlantic City for a day of training on Thursday. I'm always glad to be of some help on this site and others.

I'll be in New Jersey and New York doing training and won't be attending. I almost went to Frankfort several years back but had to cancel due to an inner ear operation that I was healing from. I had my Stapes and Tympanic membrane replaced and couldn't fly. Oh well.....some day I'll make it!

    thank you glen

I found the problem and it was a mistake that my electrician made wiring it.
  • Thanks Bill

I was getting worried when we didn't hear from you. I've been checking with our Tech. Services guys for the past couple of days to see if they heard from you. Thanks.
