Thieves, scoundrels and I wish they'd left a card!

and it'll have radiant when we're finished, but first the old ceramic tile floor, cinders and lead lines come out. The guys hossed out the old skirted tub in one piece and set it beside the row home for a while until our beater truck could be retrieved for hauling the old beastie off to the yard.
Imagine their surprise to find it missing upon returning! That's a bunch of work for about $3.00 in scrap value. Sure wish they'd have left a card for future work(G).

Scrap crooks
Dave,
If you had put a big sign on that tub saying FREE and left it there, I bet archeologists would have dug it up two thousand years from now, in the very same spot.

Heh
One of my friends was moving a while back. Had a bunch of trash and assorted stuff he didn't want to take.
Anyway, he went to an electronics place and asked them for a bunch of stereo and tv boxes. Filled them up with trash, taped the seams up nice, and set them in the driveway, kind of close to the back door.
Then we left for a while.
Trash was all gone when we came back.

Me too Scott
going to start collecting appliance cartons (just the upgrade brands) to box up the furnaces and boilers we rip out. The help is gone hate me cause they always get the scrape money, Plus they get a little goof off time on the ride back and forth to the scraper. Oh well thats all over with now.LOL0 -
Maybe
Look for one that says "gigantic screen tv". Those are very popular.
Edit: oops. That was a reply to Scott, not Jim.0 -
Good deal!
And the check is in the mail as well.
No wonder you can't make ISH! Your back is out!!!!

surplus DeWalt five pack plastic suitcase
They sell at Tool King for $2.00
I'm thinking of putting a "Lo Jack" and bricks in one, padlocking it, and leaving it kind of close to the back door, near the alley. The cops could actually track down my neighborhood thiefs! Would this be legal?
Or just skip the Lo Jack, do it five times with bricks, and then I might be "immune" to theft.0 -
Kevin and the lojack idea
Had lobstermen nearby stealing from his competitor. Then one day, 100 miles offshore he caught the guy red handed at his pots and shot him. The guy lived and the whole thing is in court. You think this guy would have learned. Two years later(earlier this month)the same guy who had his pots robbed began complaining to the feds that his stuff was still being ripped off. Feds implanted the lobsters with microchips and put them back in the pots. Lo and behold. the very next day the microchips start moving westerly at 20 knots. Thats one quick lobster. They followed the lobsters straight into the inlet and right to the dock. The same guy (moron) who got shot was found unloading the other guys lobsters. Now hes in deeper s#@t than ever. I would use the lojack idea. The feds do.0 -
Our town has an annual "clean-up" where they'll pick up almost anything and in almost any quantity when you leave it curbside.
The day before pickup each "zone" becomes a parade of trucks/vans/cars cruising slowly looking for treasure. (Will be honest and say that I'm among them looking for old finish lumber and radiators.)
The stuff I'm allowed to throw out is utter junk, yet every year at least half of it disappears.0 -
cyborg lobstahs
I read about those lobsters with the electronic tag implants. The guys defence is that the lobsters musta crawled out of the other pots and into the accused's pots. I didn't read if "they" have an eye witness (video or human) of the guy stealing the tagged lobsters.

oops
on closer inspection, I guess it applies to both of you.
anyway, you have to make it look like a big-screen. no dirty handprints on the box, etc.
and you don't want it rattling around in there, so pack it real good with those bags of asbestos that came off it.

More on a moron
They dont need video. The chips in the lobsters didnt move from the spot until they were picked up. Also, not only did he steal the lobsters, but he destroyed the other guys pots. He's really busted bad. And the great part is the a@#hole still has buckshot in his gut from the first time he stole. We deliver deisel to his competitor, so all this is first hand account from the victim of the theft. They have all the proof they need.0 -
Yeah, he's got a very weak defence. There's no way so many lobsters could get out of one guy's trapa and then go only into this other guys traps.
Was he pulling up the traps or was he doing it with SCUBA gear down below?

LOL
Pulled the traps, stole the lobsters, destroyed the traps , and threw them over the side.0
