I just completed startup on the heating system for this 1879 house. It had never had central heat. It was originally heated with coal fireplaces and stoves and downgraded in the 1960s to electric baseboard. Now it has been "modernized" with circa 1900 radiators and a circa 2000 boiler.

p.s., The photos of completed near-boiler piping on the wall almost always show bare copper. While it looks pretty it doesn't seem very efficient. What do people recommend for pipe insulation? (Circuit max temp. is 180).
