    Inside or out?

Snowmelt systems can provide 150-175 BTu/ sq foot :) The wider the delta t between floor surface temperature and air temperature, the greater the output.

Inside a home depends on the surrounding air temperature. A rough rule of thumb is 2 btu for every degree of difference between floor temperature and air.

Floor surface temperature for constant residential use is generally 85° or less. Some commercial spaces may run higher temperatures.

So 85° floor temperature with 68° air would output about 34 btu/ square foot.

The RPA RadPad is a hand calculator for this type of exercise :) Think you can buy one at Books and More, here.

Could I get away with 95 degree bare concrete floor temp and still be able to walk on it with bare feet?

  • Over 90 it starts to get a little uncomfortable.

If you have a bare concrete floor though your water temps are low, and you could add a little radiant wall or ceiling with no additional mixing to shift some of the load off the floor, as one alternative.

It would not be comfortable--in fact it would be oppressive.
