Why is my Priority Zone Circulator not pumping?

I installed a 007-ZF5-IFC Priority Zone Circulator incorrectly at first, with the input and output flanges horizontal and the motor shaft vertical with the motor on the bottom (instructions in kit were severely lacking with no diagrams). When I finally got the pdf off the web I saw the "optional" install position so I simply loosened the bolts and rotated the pump 90 degrees so that the control box is now on top and the motor shaft is horizontal.
Both times I filled the system with water before turning th pump on. The first time it was SO loud, especially when I shut off the pump. The second time it was much quieter so it was obvious water was getting inside.
However, the unit does not seem to be circulating anything at all. I have a 20 gal Water Heater as the source, and when you put your hand on the pipe on the hot side of the heater and feel the temperature, then compare it 3 feet downstream, there is a significant difference in temperature, showing the water is not circulating at all.
I have the Priority Switch ON, and for the 4 terminals for controls I am connecting 1 and 2 to simulate a thermostat turning the unit on. 3 and 4 are unused, as I am not using a boiler. For the power terminals, PR IN and PR OUT are unused, and I have 115v AC connected to LIVE and NEUT correctly. There are no other wiring connections.
I don't think I ruined anything, but maybe I did. What could cause the pump to not circulate anything? Any ideas on how to test for successful pumping? This is a closed hydronic floor system, only one simple zone, and the pressure is at 40psi. I also have a spirovent so there is no air in the system.

zoning circ
On Monday morning, call Joe Mattiello at Taco.(401-942-8000.) He will walk you through the whole thing and make sure you have a properly installed and operating circulator.
For future ref., never install a wet rotor circ(any make) with the motor hanging down. The bearings will be destroyed.
Best regards, John White0
