baseboard radiators

I have been trying to learn what basic types of baseboard radiators exist and have not been able to find any comprehensive discussion of this on the 'net. For example can you get them in steel and cast iron; are there different types of mechanisms for transporting and radiating the heat(fin vs others) We are going to put some in a now-enclosed side porch - the rest of the house has original 1937 hot water radiators of either the (steel?) fin type with covers or the clunky tall 'out in the open' cast iron radiators.

I would appreciate any help and recommendations. Thanks

    radiators

Barbara, there are as many was to transmit heat into your home as there are type of cars out there. Everything is available from standard fin tube to wall panels, to radiant panels to......My suggestion would be to find a good heating contractor and work with him. Use the Find a Pro feature on this site and he can get you all kinds of info. Do a web search for various companies that make radiation/radiators such as Slant Fin, Runtal, Buderus, and the list goes on and on.
Budget and looks are always the driving force behind what gets put in for heat, but you need to consider heat loss and the ability to get sufficient amounts of the stuff into the room.
