Valves on one pipe radiator

Changed radiators. Need to re-connect. It appears that each valve off the steam pipe is matched to the coupling from the radiator. It also appears that there is a key that could be placed into the radiator pipe to remove the change the pipe and seat. In other words take the old connecting pipe and place it into the changed in radiator. Where can I get this tool and am I going about this the correct way?

    two piece valve

You are correct sir. They DO match. The new valve will come complete with the union already attached. That "key" you are looking for will probably not work as the old piece will probably not unscrew. It most likely will be seized in place. The best "key" for that job is called a sawzall. Good luck !

Spud Wrench and a gallon of

WD-40 before you use the Sawzall with a 6-foot pipe lever over the wrench handle. By then you can say you at least tried.

Careful though. This was done once in my neighborhood and the house turned around the radiator. :^)>

Usually, the house doesn't move. Neither does the spud.

The spud wrench turns into a course threaded, tapered screw, size LARGE. If it's cast iron, it'll sound like you just made a second crack in the Liberty bell. Wear pads, it'll hurt.

    Sawzall. I agree.

    Just don't cut the threads.

    radiator spud or tailpiece

radiator spud wrenches are strictly for installing never removing. cut it out or chop it out.if you hack up the tapping put lampwick and permatex on new spud.
