    From what I hear

They had some lockout problems on the burner last year. It's made by a Korean manufacturer, so getting parts will be next to impossible unless going through the US rep office. Probably cheaper then most combo's, but I'm not impressed with the 1/2" domestic water connections and the 120K BTU models only have 1" supply/return.

Thanks, Joe. And yes, they are cheaper than other comparable units. I need three or four boilers for a certain job and could save quite a bit by using the Quietsides. I intend to have spare parts on the premises so I'm not too worried about getting parts quickly. My main concern is longevity. How are these boilers constructed?

Kent I have stayed away from these boilers,

mainly because of very poor reps on them, and I don't think its just in my area. Have seen a few installed, and would rate them on the far low end of the scale, as far as quality. Sounds to me like you are asking for problems x 4, and may find it a major battle for assistance/warranty/etc., if you should need it. To me, support means a lot. If I have a problem with something, I want to talk to someone who knows something, and is genuinely concerning that it run right. Then again you may have great support in your area on these. What kind of parts are you planning on stocking?

Steve, I plan to have burner, ignition, and control parts. I really don't know how the boiler is constructed. I plan to call the Eastern and Western offices on Monday to learn as much as I can, but do you have any knowledge as to the construction of these units?

    Check the specs

Kent, I've never seen one but this unit seems more of a disposable WH to me. Probably only get 10 years life out of it (only 5 yr warranty on HX). I've never seen an oil-fired unit with so little mass. Even low mass steel boilers weigh over 200 lbs. The QXM8 series are only 100 lbs! Sure stainless steel, but how thin is it? I can't tell if the DHW is a plate style HX or a tankless coil. I'd be a lot more comfortable with a standard burner option. If space is an issue, have you looked at small steel boilers from Laars (MAX), or Burnham (LE)? You could put these on top of horizontal indirect tanks or place the boiler on a stand with a 30 gal low-boy under it. Other oil-fired combo solutions are available from Triagle Tube or Bradford White's CombiCor.

    here is an observation....

i looked at the quiteside and eh well it seemed like well MAYBE ...then read some of the fine print....and thought uh...nah i will pass on the idea....that very day one showed up at the local Wholesaler delivered from the in town distributor, wow i thought Maybe they Know something i dont...hmmm.... ok so later that day i,am back at the perts house Again :) and low and behold theres the boiler Back from whomever just had the wholesaler buy the thing for them....Eh uh...Hmmmm.... i am sorta cautious individual. while thier footprint is real small an they dont weigh beans there maybe more to them thats "different "by the way the boiler had been completely installed all the taps indicated they had installed it so its fast to install and replace..which might have some appeal.
