pumping away?

I HAVE READ A FEW OF DANS BOOKS AND I READ AND POST AT THE WALL HERE AND THERE.. I HAVE INSTALLED HW BOILERS WITH THE PUMP ALWAY'S PUMPING INTO THE BOILER ON THE RETURN.. I SEE POSTS AND IN BOOKS THAT PUTTING THE PUMP ON THE FEED TO PUMP INTO THE SYSTEM IS A BETTER HABIT..I'M WILLING TO TRY A DIFFERENT INSTALLATION.. FEW QUESTIONS..
1.WOULD THE PUMP BE PUT AFTER THE SPIROVENT OR BEFORE?
2.WHERE WOULD THE EXPANSION TANK NEED TO BE?
3.HOW WOULD YOU BLEED THE SYSTEM ON THE FEED SIDE WITH YOUR TWO ISOLATION VALVES AND A DRAIN TEE WITH A BOILER DRAIN? THANKS GUYS.. MIKE

    Mike,

which books of Dan's have you purchased?

All these questions are answered in Pumping Away. If you haven't gotten that one, do yourself a favor and order it today.

By the way, CAPITAL letters are for yelling.

    Mike...

place the circ. after the spirovent, feed the water and place the expansion tank into the tapping on the bottom of the spirovent. With this setup you will find that the need for purging practically goes away. I have set up many systems this way and have not even purged them at all.
Turn on the water, fire up the system and listen to the spiro doin' it's thing......
    What a wonderful feeling.....

As far as funds goes, $20 bucks is a small investment. You need to invest $20 bucks plus some shipping. Bring luch for a week and save the twenty bucks, or coffee or cigs whatever.

    The book

Just get it! Pumping away, you will find, is not really about the boiler. You can even pump away with the circ on the return and for some high resistance boilers that's the best way. The book is a tool - charge it to a job. Learn fron it and earn from it. Enjoy......DAn
