Closet steam boiler

A 5 section clunker in a crap filled closet . We knocked down some paneling to make the room more accesible . We decided to carry each section out individually . If you saw the access to get to this closet , you would go that route too . The guy in the pic , Danny , had to climb over mounds of junk to get to the oil tank and water main . The basement was a mess .

There were 4 of us on this job , and I have to just say that I did not do the domestic or flue piping . I would have straightened some of it out , but I don't want to step on any toes of the guys I work with every day .

We replaced the main vent and piping on the dry return . You can tell a system has been neglected when you fill the boiler and the new vent starts to hiss before you even light the boiler . We also had 4 psi on the gage at fill up . I told the homeowner the rad vents need to be replaced ASAP . All in all this job truly stunk .
