leaky radiator

I have a one pipe steam system and one of my radiators leaks at the point where two sections join. There is no crack or other damage visible. First I had thought I could remove the tie rod and repack the radiator but I was informed the sections won't come apart easily because there is a "nipple" inside the joint that essentially locks the sections together.
There is a used plumbing fixture seller in my area but his prices are very high. I heard that in some cases a leaky radiator can be patched with epoxy. What type of epoxy is used and is this likely to work?
Thanks for any help.
