hot water boiler 2 pipe system

dear dan, thank you for the q&a section of your site. i have a problem-my boiler hadzone valves (2) and all i had was leaking and pipe banging. i took them out and now my boiler runs constantly and heat is radianting continually. if the thermostats on 68 i still get heat after room temps reached. my home was a 3 apartment home and i changed it back to single family. each unit had its own thermostats, which i now have down too 2. i un-hooked the highest one. hope u can help me with a solution. my girlfriends at her wits with me trying too figure out the problem. even on a sunny day the gas fired boiler is running. what is your best determination as too my problem. 2 circulating pumps are also on the boiler. 1 is for flow and the other is return i think. thanks in advance for ur reply. ron

you need what is refered to as \"Control\"........
a local sparky can get you some rudimentary control over the system easily enough...spend a dollar.0 -

If you took out your zone valves and just tied the piping together that is your first problem. You have to have some type of control in your zone's to stop flow. You need to have someone come in and replace the zone valves and rewire a control system for them....I would hurry, girlfriend's get grumpy when it get's cold and I am sure most companies are rather busy right now....:) good luck0 -

hey dan!!!!! wish i would have known ur reply. sorry i just got it. well anyway minneasota winters are drawn out and the boiler isnt workin right yet either. i too have been booted for the x b/f. lol well any way she cant keep water in the system since i took the zone valves out. seems to always overheat and i wonder if the expansion tanks damaged after it operating like this. every 3 days it needs some water and then its bleeding again. what a goof i was too letr it go like this. i wired only one cirrculating pump to the system and had both goin a few times. always seemed to be same answer. can u help coach me into a solution. i would accept a call from u at my expense if you choose too. 906-224-1186. i appreciate ur site and kindness u afford all u home doers. lol guess thats why im a truck driver. not a real plummer or typer. thanks in advance. ron t0
