Oil Heat Cares - timely article today

to impart my thoughts about using water heaters for hydronics with a few surprises and plot twists(G).

All of the speakers volunteered to help this worthy cause for helping those who find themselves in a bind financially & there's more needing help than ever before.

In today's newspaper, there's an article titled "Heating can be a hardship" by AP reporter Brad Foss. In it he details how some have had to decide between their needed meds or heating.

NAOHSM is doing their part through Oil Heat Cares, but you don't need to be a member of an orginization to see there's a desperate need for heating aid in this Country. In every town & city, there are agencies that can direct you to someone in need. Reach out this winter & make a difference in someone's life.

    What a day for learning!

Funny how you get to a point in trades work where you think you know at least a little something about your work. Then you go to a seminar like Oil Heat Cares and witness presentation after presentation where the presenters are some of the brightest and most captivating teachers in the oil heating business and you realize you know absolutely nothing. My head hurts from all of the great things I attempted to assimilate yesterday.

The free wheeling give and take between the presenters and the audience demonstrated the room was filled with a great bunch of oil heating specialists who not only care deeply about their craft, but who also value the time invested in learning how to improve the oil heating industry.

Top that off with the benefit to the community that Oil Heat Cares represents & it's a win/win for all who are involved.

Definition of how to make a plumber nervous:

Give him an assignment to discuss plumbing issues before a room full of oil heating technicions! They were gracious to a fault and I very much appreciated their comments & questions both during and after my prersentation.

Being asked to be a part of Oil Heat Cares was an honor. How could anyone deny a request by Judy? Not me.

Following Bob Heddon was, as Scott Milne would say, a pissah. Bob tossed out so many facts in his presentation; I was feeling pretty much like a mental midget (no comments Boltz!) when my turn came up.

One of the highlights, for me, was finally meeting the famous Firedragon. Your easy going personality and quick smile are infectious.

    You may be a plumber

to the world, but you're an oilman through and through to me. Meeting you at last was a genuine pleasure and I will look forward to a longer chat again soon.

    Another highlight......

being welcomed by Steamhead in the main entrance of the hotel parking lot as I pulled in. A better greeting can't be had.

Unless, of course, that would've been the Dallas Cheerleaders.
