I'm wondering why we're not sold out at this point. Should this be the last one?
Thanks for the feedback.

Dan,
November is a tough time in the Northeast. I suspect that more than a few are still not sure about the timing. I know I'd love to show my mug, but this is the busiest time of the year for me.(Wetstock 1 was a hoot, and the timing just seemed to work for me. I couldn't do anything else at that point...)
I would still recommend it as a great getaway and a chance to put the names with the faces. The trip to HTP is a BIG bonus! I just can't commit knowing that one of my customers may be left without heat.
NO!!!! This should NOT be the last one. I think that we should all agree to at least 2 per year, but at a time when we're not going to be so busy and most will be able to attend.
Happily, I WILL get the chance to see lots of folks coming to the "Chowdafest". This is my solace for the "crazy season" that will ultimately begin about 2 weeks later.
Wish I could be there, but have to cover the butt. Chris0 -
Thanks for the feedback.
Wetstock I was during the same week as this one, and also on a Saturday.
We don't want to offer events that folks don't want, though. Thanks.Retired and loving it.0 -
Dan
I wouldn't stop having Wetstocks. This year it's up against ISH.
I would guess that ISH is cutting into attendence this time. Only so many functions you can attend.

What Mark Said
Ish-RPA vs. Wetstock, You can only get away from work so many times. For many it is one or the other, time wise and finance wise.
Six weeks w/o a computer or internet service! Glad to be back! It is a very long story............0 -
I agree.........
with Mark and Bill I am going to attend both but it is crunch time in the northeast and a lot of people with small shops will find it difficult to attend both.Don't stop, but perhaps we could reach a consensus on timing.Perhaps some people don't remember what hydronics was like before Dan Holohan I do and am forever in your debt for what you have done for our industry. When you run up against ISH its tough. I would follow you most any where but not everyone has my advantages.
John0 -
Hard to say why the attendance is so low but,,
NO!!!! This should NOT be the last one. People do want this event. ISH is just this Huge thing that has everyone thinking "how can I fit both in."
I know it may be discouraging looking at the numbers right now. Think about it though,,, The Chowdafest is also cutting into the gathering. We all meet at Woodmans and then meet again a month later? Just a thought. Hope you fill Providence out but, if you don't I hope we all understand why and adjust accordingly.
I like the ISH schedule; Every two years. JMHO

I understand
Thanks for the thoughts. Very perceptive. We're a really small business and Wetstock sort of supports this place as well. If it doesn't make money for the company then there's really little sense in offering it again. Won't be the first product we've shelved. No worries. ;-)Retired and loving it.0 -
No I don't understand!
why it is not sold out yet there are enough of us here in New England in short driving distance to fill two Wetstocks! The idea about us being too busy is hard to swallow as we are only talking about one day! (for those of us in the Northeast ). I would hate to see Dan loose money on this event and scrape it but would not blame him. It is business and not personal after all.0 -
Wet 1
The first wetstock was special for me. I'm struggling with scheduling and geography just to get a day in Boston and haven't been able to fit the wetstock's timing since #1. Each event will be different but they are great for the industry and for those who attend. If financially viable I'd say keep them coming. What about June? Thanks, Dan

Dan ,
No need to shelve it, just make it more time concious to the folks that will/are the biggest attendees. Most of us fall into a small area that understaned steam and hydronic heat.
This happens to fall between a couple of big events that are happening on the East Coast, and the peak season for lots of us. May I suggest that we try to schedule these things at around March,(when things start to slow down)and early September(just before things start to get crazy) .
I think that it will work for most. If they can't attend then, god bless them and I suggest that they need either more help,or get the guys' to work harder. Chris

I think that those who have attended previous Wetstocks
have gotten their money's worth in terms of knowledge, and all in one day, and a good time to boot. It cost a lot to put on one of these events, and you're right, John, it is strictly business. For us, Wetstock is a product. It helps provide the funding that keeps the Wall up and running. However, as with any business, if the venture isn't profitable, it makes no sense to go on with it.
I still think that Wetstock was a fine idea, though, and those of us in Providence will have a wonderful time. We'll share, as always, and we'll learn from each other. Might even have an adult beverage or two.

Old friends
And a real good one. Steve Merker of the legendary Area51HVAC.com just bought a ticket to Wetstock V. He's coming all the way from Ohio to share his knowledge and some good times.
Thanks, pal. I needed that. We'll make a memory.Retired and loving it.0 -
Oh!
I just checked the guest list, I didn't realize so few had signed up.0 -
Yep.
that's what I've been saying. Where are all my friends? ;-)Retired and loving it.0 -
I'll Be There
And I suggest anyone in the area who is thinking about going Should sign up.
Its a day, its Saturday, its not the height of the heating season but most importantly it can help set the tone for your business for the whole season.
Like the Nike adv. says " Just Do IT ".

Not just heating
Its not just about heating!!!!
I have met so many people because of Wetstock. These people I feel I can e-mail any time, with any question. When I was in California last week, I had a great nite with Mike Miller (from Tekmar) and Alan (California Radiant) Forbes. Otherwise it would have been another nite at the hotel. Things just worked out for us.
Its about people, some of the best people I have ever met were at Wetstock. Some people I never figured I would be friends with.
I know heating season is busy, but you are never to busy to make a friend
Chuck Shaw0 -
Thank you.
You always have a way of getting exactly to the heart of things, Chuck. It's entirely about people. Thanks.Retired and loving it.0 -
You never forget your first....
and this will be mine. Of course, I live in Boston (A suburb of Providence :^)> ) so have the privledge of being nearby.
If this were in CT or NY, I probably would not make it. But do not take this as the 'damnation of faint praise', far from it.
Call me an oportunist but for me (engineer, not an installer except for myself) this is about people, the community, educating myself. Lastly, and least important but more practically, it is about geography.
But do not make this the last one! As stated, you are competing with ISH (and at a time when customers find things that need immediate correction maybe).
If I were "in the trades" in the bread and butter sense, it might make it a regular happening. But this is opportunity calling, and I hope to meet several of the folks I know only behind keyboards.
Can someone fill me in on the HTS tour? They are in Freetown, relatively close, but I do not know the details. I would love to go.0 -
We're leaving on a bus
from the Providence Holiday Inn at 9 AM on Friday, November 12. There's room if you'd like to join us. We'll go out to HTP, see some new things that will make your jaw dangle, have a nice lunch, and get back to the Holiday Inn in time for some pre-game festivities at the bar. Want to join us?
It's great to have you at Wetstock, Brad. Thanks.Retired and loving it.0 -
Hello...
Dan. Suzanne and I will be there too.
Yours, Larry0 -
That makes me happier than you can imagine.
It will so good to see you both. Thanks.
For those of you that don't know, Larry and Suzanne are the authors of the "Water Heater Workbook," which we offer in Books & More. They're about the finest people I know. Suzanne suffered a stroke last year, but she's getting stronger every day, and this trip east makes me feel so good about her continuing progress.

Wetstock V
I would really like to attend as I really enjoyed Wetstock III and IV. And it is worth the effort (and expense) and that comes from me who needs 2 days travel (from Alaska) to get there and back, with the added cost of airfare (the dogsled is cheaper but slower). This one doesn't work for me due to prior plans (have to visit my parents in New Mexico who are in their 80's), but will definately be looking at Wetstock VI.

PS Let me know if someone is donating maple syrup for the silent auction, I'm almost out.0 -
I have only missed One.....
But it looks Like I am not going to be able to make this one, but even though it will be a 600 batting average. Summer sales were pretty lousy this year so we have lots of catching up to do!! sorry Mr. Holohan I hope we can still be friends sorta!!

maple syrup
Ruthe, Jerry and Dan
How bout this. Whoever wins the syrup, I will match thier bid and throw in $10 (or whatever the shipping is) and if you would be so kind as to send me one also. At least I will be there in spirit and of course it will add to the donation. I can order it online, but would rather be able to participate this way if possible.

I haven't a clue to why Ken started this.
I guess it was funny when he got pics sent to him (source unknown), Oh well hope things work out in Providence.

Wetstock ticket, how can I buy one.

Dan, would you be interested
in some new people from the Providence area who are maybe Wallie Wanna Be's. I would be happy to contact some local trades people who might want to come and it will be easy for them as they are local. I did not suggest it before as I figured it would fill up with folks from the Wall. Just a thought!!!0 -
The wheels on the bus...
I'm booked for lobsta and the bus and Hot Rod and RB. Even managed a hotel room Friday. Nothing I'd like better than to make wetstock too BUT the work owns me. Sometimes working alone sucks!

Looking very forward.......................
to #5!My only attendance being #1 I have been sorry I missed previous wetstocks. This one was a hard pick because of ISH and I can relate to Dan Peels pain;)Dan is a great guy very layed back and has much knowledge to share. He will be missed.....(still time Dan)!I'm sure more tickets will sell as there are 4 weeks to go.I'm thinking JCA's employer should lighten up a bit and give him the day off:).He certainly packs some dedication to who and where his position is in the company.I applaud your love of what you do Chris.
And Murph...........that is a lovely picture you posted.Your wise cracks will be missed.I too didnt have the Spring/Summer that last year provided. The winter has some promise of some real nice wet dreams:)
The amazing Klaatu will be beaming down??!!?? This is definitely going to be a special trip. Now if he can only talk the Wiz into joining ............not to forget the enthusiasm of Tom 51.Hell a trifecta from Ohio.
Looking forward to the days:)
