PK MACH - Any Experience?

Patterson Kelley's PK MACH boiler? It is another condensing boiler with an aluminum Heat Exchanger. We are looking at using one, but I am always a little leery the first time I install/use a new boiler. Has anyone seen or heard of any problems with the boiler? I haven't looked at the Installation manual, but I'm sure that Primary/Secondary piping and water chemistry are of the utmost importance (just like the Weil McLain Ultra). Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The Aluminum is a true concern for water chemistry.

The pH of the system needs to stay between 8 and 9. Too high or to low and you will have real problems with the aluminum being eaten up.

You need to use the aluminum specific glycol if glycol is going to be used. Regular glycol can destroy the aluminum.

Our two products for cleaning and treating such a system are compatible with Aluminum. Look at our web site under hydronic products (www.rhomarwater.com) and print our info on Hydro-Solv 9100 and Pro-tek 922.
