Glenn stanton, quality control??? where
tim smith

Glenn, just received 2 Burnham 8 series boilers, over 400mbh, needed csd1 controls. Arrived and hooked up, found one boiler had the switches for power and main fuel upside down from the other. Bigger problem, hooked up all controls and then tried to fire, RM7800 control would lock out to alarm immediately, come to find out, if you look real hard in o&m manual, you are suppose to clip JR2 jumper resistor on flame relay. HMMMMMMMMMMMMM, this was because the RM control looks for the type of amplifier and sees it is 3 sec. flame response, if so, jumper must be cut to operate. Why in the blue P()(#)Q@#%)PJ"P(U()#$%, does this not come shipped this way. Call engineering, not tech support and posed the ??? well i have brought it up as calls have been many, but still no change. Glenn, need some help here, where is the QC. E mail me if you like. Also front cover removal and reinstall the worst i have seen, talk to us about how to build a better piece of quality american made piece of equipment.

So tim
you hit Glenn in the back of the head with a two by four when he's not looking and then ask if he'll help. NICE.
Never having met Glenn but having asked him technical questions, through e'mail, he responded promptly and directly and solved my problems.
He'll probably treat you a heck of a lot more professionally than you just treated him.
I have no problem with you knocking Burnham for what you say you went through nor am I minimizing your problems but it doesn't seem right to drag Glenn's name around like that.
Hope everything turns out OK.

Tim
Thank you for the heads up on this situation you encountered. I'm not going to sit here and say that I am Manager of Training with Burnham Hydronics and don't have anything to do with the quality control side of the various divisions within our company. What I am going to do is get in touch with the correct people within our corporation that should have been involved in this and request that they get in touch with you immediately. I have already done so and you should be hearing from them today. I wish I could do more than that but things like this have to be routed through the proper channels so that they can be handled correctly and hopefully this will not happen again. Thanks again.

To Glenn stanton
I appreciate your quick response, the problem here is not with you, and I don't mean to direct it at you, I am directing it at Burnham, you happen to be the person who is out here responding. I do not mean in any way to say anything negative about you. You just happen to be the channel. I posted the problem here because I think it helps for others to see the problem, again thanks for the quick and courteous response.0 -
To Jackchips
Jack, if you read my original post and the following, Glenn is just the route, I am in no way dragging his name in the mud, I am letting Burnham know via a person who can get it to the right person and maybe get this corrected. I in no way meant it against Glenn.0 -
No Problem Tim
My primary purpose at this site and others is to learn along with everyone else. I realize that my presence here also carries the responsibilities of everything related to Burnham and its various companies. I don't really mind handling these issues because every single one becomes a learning experience for us all.
The control system you have on those boilers is not the standard control system and the majority of the components are from other suppliers like Honeywell and not us. I would like our folks in Commercial Products to know what you encountered though in an effort to keep things smoother next time. Thanks again for the heads up!
