8148a relay (cold start)

I had a situation happen today that i didnt fully understand. Here goes H/W boiler 2 zones ,flowcontrols, switching relay. The boiler would come up to temperture highlimit, then it will cut off.okay with that. Now even if the zones are calling the cirulator will run and the temperture will drop below the high limit but the burner will not fire till the burner temp get around 130.This is where i was puzzled. If the cold start doesnt have a low limit why did it start at that point 130.Well what i did was looked at the schamatics of the control and it had a picture of a optional low limit where you remove the jumper from L1 to 3.Now there was no jumper on the control so therfore im thinking its useing the low limit, but where is it, is it in the control? Some help PLEASE!!

    8148 cold start

The low limit is an optional 4006b control make on a fall control wired into the 8148 on the blue wire found on the limit of the 8148. You have to install this control and wire it. I would guess that you have two zones and one of them called for heat when the boiler cooled off. The best thing for you to do is call an experienced technician to come solve this problem. When wiring a hot water heating system most electricians can't even do it... Good luck.

the specs on that control state a fixed differential of 8*
It should restart the boiler on a 8* temp drop off the high limit. Have had this problem before. Make sure the probe is fully inserted in the well and use the heat transfer gel. The location of the control can also play a part in the reaction time of the control. If located in an area of slow velocity in the boiler, it will take longer to respond. Also, I'll always trust a control before I believe a gauge,. The placement of the gauge may also affect it's sensitivity to temperature changes in the boiler.

    is the probe stuck in....

all the way to the bottom...each time I do a boiler(packaged or not) I stretch out the probe so it goes to the bottom of the well...if not at the bottom you can/will get a false read...kpc
