Is anyone using ?mtrol? I just had another leaker that I installed 9 years ago just after the homeowner moved in. This thing was leaking all over. Called amtrol they said it was under warrentee. Told homeowner no problem. Changed tank at my expense. Tried to return tank. Amtrol claims it is 20 years old. No way the wholesaler had this tank for 11 years. What is up with these people. Do they ever stand behind anything. They said they have no sales records but the ser. # tells them the build date. The issue is I know and the homeowner knows they have only lived there for 9 years. This is not the first time. I have replaced 5 other leakers at my expense. I am very tired of this lousy treatment. Manufacturers beware. If you don't stand behind your stuff you will also loose market share. I wouldn't use a blue tank if it were 1/2 the price of everybody else.

Hey Troy
Try Super-Stor made bt HTP, the munchkin people. Better product, better insulation, nicer people to deal with and same price range.
Amtrol just dosn'nt get it.

Indirects
Superstor is my choice also. I have 6 of them in my shop now waiting to be installed. I keep getting stung from days gone by. I just can't believe that they are this pathetic about taking care of bad product. Big Blue I mean.0 -
I still like
the W/M Plus series. Lifetime warranty, no coil to lime up - ever, stainless steel, internal aquastat, nice price.

Sorry to hear
of your troubles. I like the Phase III by triangle tube. No heat exchanger, just a tank within a tank, so theres nothing to clog. So far no problems. WW

amtrol
I had the same situation with them about 2 years ago.Tank was installed 5 years and 2 months, leaking through the jacket, not near a fitting. was in an apartment, amtrol said it was warrenteed for only 5 years , being "comercial"
replaced it with a superstore. and have ONLY installed superstores ever since.Great heater, never a problem with one. When Amtrol put a line in tyhe orange box store, they lost their integrety0 -
It's just too bad..
Back in the day, Amtrol owned the US market when it came to indirect water heaters. They had massive name recognition. Everyone called a indirect, a boilermate. It seemed the smartvalve started their slide toward the bottom. I see they have redesigned the tank to access the coil from the top. Did they fix the problem or just make it easier to change a coil? Superstor is a good tank, I really like the triangle tube/ phase III. I have never had any tank leakers. In fact the only problem I ever had was a faulty thermostat. It was changed under warranty. We always try to get the customer to address water quality, which helps everything in the house, plumbing wise.
I was at the FW Webb expo in Saratoga Springs NY yesterday. Big Blue was a lonely table. Triangle Tube is releasing a wall-hung condensing boiler in November. It looks interesting. It is made of stainless steel, I do not know what grade. I also got to check out the Buderus wall-hung condenser. It is a very nice piece of equipment, that is made of aluminum. So no dumping standard Cryotek in, if you have winterize your system. Unfortunately, we had to get a heating system wired and fired. So we missed our beloved Mr. Holohan giving a talk on Euro hydronics at the Expo.
Our friend from HTP, John Sawyer was there. Many more new things are on the horizon at HTP. What a progressive company! They are going to have alot going on at the factory during ISH. All should try to attend. These folks are helping to push our industry forward. Looking forward to the Lobsta bake with Mr Milne and crew during ISH.
