drip drip drip?

Bought a 1950's era home in June. Turned the heat on ~ 10/1 and hear what sounds like dripping water in my ceiling.
How do I test if this is indeed a leaky system?
What are my options if it is? Can the pipes be replaced or am I facing a conversion to GFA?

Leaks are a pain
Assuming the drip goes away except when the I assume, hot water, boiler is on You can shut off the makeup water inlet to the boiler, note boiler gauge pressure and if the gauge drops that is your source, have a pro trace the piping, a small leak can be fixed for a LOT less than a new system. I would also guess the homeowners warranty would cover the repair.0 -
Is it a drip
or just expansion noise?
A drip should show up on the ceiling right away.0
