                    Steamhead,
Would you please calculate the main vents I will need, as I am replacing the old, CHEAP ones this fall on my one-pipe steam system.
I have two mains that feed the front and back of the house...the front main is a 2in and 24ft long that bends back into the dry return which is 1.5in and 15 feet long.
The rear main is 2in and 13ft long which then bends back into the dry return that is 1.5 in and 14 feet long. Each main vent is on the 90* elbow that feeds into the wet return. System works ok, butreally wnat the right vents to get the steam through that steam "trough" before it reaches the ind. radiators. Thanks in advance.

            Use
two Gorton #1 or Hoffman #75 vents on the long main, and one of either model on the short one.

            One more question....
Thanks, Steamhead. Where can I find Hoffman 75's? And are they better/more reliable than the Gorton's?0

            Check with your supplier
you have a better chance of finding the Hoffmans, though they are quite a bit more expensive than the Gortons. The capacity of the Gorton #1 and the Hoffman #75 is about the same.
If you don't have any luck, go to www.gorton-valves.com . Get in touch with Ken Kunz at Gorton and tell him I sent you. He will find a way to get you your vents.
