What is the easiest way to use bolier seal.I seen it used useing the systems water by i guess closing the feed and releasing waterinto pale w/boiler seal powder until about 5# of pressure ,then mixing the seal till it oatmeal then use pump to pump it back in through the boiler drain, after this i guess u turn the system on and let it circulate im not sure is this how its done?????

not a big fan......
When a pressure vessel has a breach of integrity, it should be replaced, period. Why put a band aid on something you know will never heal? The trouble will brew for years to come when you inevitably replace the boiler.0 -
.
the boiler seal is a hit or miss --i have a few steam and hot water boilers w/IPC liquid plug in them (large cast iron sectionals) some have not leaked in 5 years others wouldn't seal --depends where the leak is---hairline crack, hole,or leaking push nipple or gasket-----there was 1 residential house i had put liquid plug in it held for half of the season--then it leaked ,the owner was not in a position to replace so i put more in --on one of the colder February evenings it let-go i was booked solid-and then some he had to have it replaced from another company at $1,500 more than i had quoted --if you are willing to try-it knowing the risk go for it (start saving your pennies now though it will eventually fail --it will be at the worst time )0 -
I just wanted to know how its done im a service tech trying to learn.0 -
i Like Base Hit..............
you put in new boiler the field is of whatever age and integrity....You really dont wanat to Live there or Marry the building........... valve off the boiler shoot a couple gallonas out of it into a bucket dump in the base hit....clean out the bottle...crank up the wayne pup in the bucket and backagain.now its mixed trust me.:) pump this mix back into the boiler crank up the heat let it "run up" to like way warm open the supply valve on the boiler to the field open only one zone and crack the return valve tillit commes back Hot as it is going out run the temp up again really hot like 200 or so....shut the valves on that zone do the asme on the next zone and open the firstwide open let it circ go thru every zone this way and when done run the temp up to like 210....and let it circ a few mins....thru all the zones and boiler..........drop the low side of the boiler down to like 145.........when the boiler fires again drop the "High"side down to like 175 and its a done deal.if there wenrnt any leaks you didnt hurt anything if there were the base hit went there and is continiously working in the field in places you cannot see to close the spaces where it may have had a small leak. Boiler seal and the like sortta work the same way...except it isnt designed to stay in the system as far as i am aware.so i am not a fan of anything other than the base hit.0
