heat gain programme?

It seems that all the new construction we are doing lately is all about soutthern exposure glass. Some of these buildings are getting to the 75% mark with the glass!!!. I can keep their homes warm during the winter but am having a real problem with heat gain during the sunny cooler days. If you know Vancouver at all, especially the North Shore, most houses are on the side of the mountains here which face south. Even with low-E we are starting to see huge heat gains!

HVAC-Calc isn't bad...
... I have a review in the On the Job Section as well as a updated version on my own web-site. Other programs like Wrightsoft do an amazing job but also cost a lot more.0 -
Can you suggest really deep eaves? If on a gable end perhaps those that extend greatly at the ridge and taper off a bit as they approach the bottom. A very simple, passive way to reduce summer South heat gain a bit...0 -
actually Mike,
it is more a problem at this time of year, as the sun "rides" lower.
