Any barrier in an application with or without> (heaven forbid) <plates should be under the emitters. Move the heat in the desired direction you desire. Your post is quite unclear. Please rephrase.

    Can a system be installed using pex and aluminum plates above an insulated crawlspace with out the use of any type of vapor barrier between the aluminum plates and the subfloor? Seems like you wouldn't need one because the floor is heated by the radiant.
